Name: Mab Ossian

He’s asleep. No, just asleep. Arceus, woman, yes, that’s it, I poisoned your husband after doing this for over five years.

Ornery and quiet, Mab has been accused of being ‘dreamy eyed’ on several occasions. Whether she’s paying attention or focused on something else, mad as a vespiqueen or giddy to no end, everything shows up on Mab’s slightly heavy eyes and quick mouth.

Strengths: Full of empathy, Mab has no problem relating to people and figuring out goals and motives. She’s good with a feather staff and other polearms, decent with a knife, and can use the mortar and pestle like no one’s business. In the last few years, she has also found she’s surprising with a loom and, partly to undo her sister’s efforts, she learned good knot work from it. Quick with patterns and memorization, she can remember small details quickly.

Weaknesses: Containing little sympathy, it takes quite a bit for Mab to show extended time periods of concern. She understands what you’re going through, she just normally thinks you should get over it, or chooses to change the topic due to being uncomfortable. She’s mediocre at best with a bow and has few tracking skills, often leaning to heavily on her traps and gathering for food. A little too blunt with her opinion to be considered polite, she often chooses not to speak. The combination can come off a stuck up or uninterested. Slow to learn complicated things with nothing to base them on, it makes picking up new skills difficult for her and interacting with new people is often awkward at first.

Story Told thus Far:
A second child to an already aging couple, her life went as expected for a girl growing up near the woods. Her mother and father doted on her accordingly demanding little of her for the first several years of her life. When her sister, Maeve, tied her hand in marriage, and took over the shroomish apocrathy on the edge of the Pinwheel forest, her parents decided it was time for her to learn a trade seriously. As Maeve learned the advanced aspects of business, Mab began learning the basics.

Like all children born to older people, life caught up. Her elderly father passed when she was ten. Quietly, in his sleep, but that does little to ease a family’s heart let alone a child’s. Her mother never quite recovered and, after some insistence from her daughters, moved in with Mab’s aunt closer to the gulf for some well earned rest.

A year later, as fate would have it, Maeve’s husband proved lousy at potion making. In fact, he cared so little he often made the customer sick. One night, after a rather heated argument, the sisters through him out. It was hard to fight with them and a pack of shroomish.

Because of these events, when Mab wanted to join a Guild at thirteen, Maeve fought tooth and nail. Having struggled through the effects of being a ‘divorced’ woman, she didn’t like the idea of her sister falling into similar ridicule. Unfortunately, Mab had little care for men even at thirteen, and even less for proper society. Eventually an agreement was reached with the mediation and approval of her mother: Mab could choose a home life or a military one when she was eligible for choosing her own marriage.

So after three years of jumping through Maeve’s wishes, kind a quiet as her sister may have been about them, Mab Ossian stands on the edge of the White Forest to attempt her shaking hand at joining the rangers.

Tropius – Cathal
No! Put him dow-WHAT are you DOING! You’re an herbivore, don’t eat the customers!

Cathal ‘attached himself’ to Mab when she was rather young. While she was taking a trip with her father to the Lostlorn Forest, he followed them back. Without them knowing. And stalked the house for a couple weeks. And odd mixture between a jealous boyfriend and an overprotective father, Cathal has a dry sense of humor and an aggressive streak a mile wide. Don’t talk bad about his girls. Just don’t.

Archen – Eilley
This is a mage, Eilley. He’s offering to teach you all some moves for pay- I will hold your head. I. Will.

The newest member of the little family, Eilley was an egg Mab took from one of the apocrathy’s brelooms had gathered from the woods. Childlike and curious, Eilley often enjoys making Mab laugh. Sometimes, she does this at inappropriate times. Since normally either Fiana or Cathal instigate it, Mab has a hard time teaching her right from wrong. Doesn’t help the archen knows she’s adorable.

Brellom – Fiana
For the last time, there’s not enough room in the bed. No, I will not sleep on the ground.

Homegrown at the apocrathy, Fiana has been with Mab as long as the two remember. Cunning and somewhat selfish, she listens to few but Mab and only when the girl is serious. She enjoys her pranks and Cathal generally joins in on the scheming.

My first attempt at all digital work, from sketch to shading, I’m enjoying every last minute of it. I’m sure my style will change a lot as I progress and find what I’m comfortable with. Originally just interested in following the story, reading and seeing everyone's characters was the final push I needed. But back to the OCT.

I’m actually looking for someone to do part of the ranger quest with story wise, the entirety of a team up, or just as an encounter. If anyone’s up for it, let me know. I’ll probably start asking around soon.
